Economical Decline

It looks like today we are living better than the previous generations, after all we have things that on the past people never thought possible, such as smartphones. But the technological development doesn`t translate to economical progress, because as we have better access to technology than the previous generations, we also have to struggle more to pay for the essential things such as food or rent. So are we really better than our grandparents were?
Back in the 60`s one salary was enough for a family with 3 children, while today it`s barely enough for a single person. This happened because while the salary today is bigger than it was before, the inflation went up much faster, and most things today are more expensive than they were back then. To put it in numbers, the average salary in the US on the year 1960 was $5.600 a year, and the cost of a new car was around $1.800, while today the average salary is $59.400 but the price of a new car is on average $47.400. This means that back in the 60`s you could buy three cars with a year`s salary, while today you can only buy one. I used cars in my example, but it applies to almost every other product in the market.
The reason why life seems to be easier today is because people are taking longer to leave their parents house, and are not having as many children as they did before. If you were going to have the same amount of children your grandparents did, you would see that life today is actually harder, not easier, this is just a lie they want us to believe. Correcting for inflation, our generation is the one that works the most and earns the least.
