Reading and Writing

I've been a month without writing, and that's because I've been reading instead. That's because I, like most people, don't have much free time, so I basically have to choose between doing one thing or another. But which one is better? 

There's no simple answer, writing is good, because by doing so you improve the way you express your thoughts, work on your creativity and practice your critical thinking. On the other hand, reading is essential, because by reading you can improve your grammatical skills and your vocabulary, besides gathering knowledge, of course.

Does that mean that reading is more important? Not quite, I would say that both have the same level of importance, but reading is the first step, because without reading you won't be able to write properly.
