Survival is a Privilege

For centuries, people have been fighting for their rights and their dignity, but have they accomplished anything? When you take some time to think about what has changed, you will realize that we actually haven't made much progress, and all that we have gotten is a better illusion. For example, we got rid of slavery more than a century ago, yet we still have people who work extensive hours for a salary that's not enough to pay for the most basic things. What is that if not a new type of slavery? Today, some people are committing suicide because they have to work every day of the week and their debts are still greater than their paycheck.

Every human needs a place to sleep, food to eat, and water to drink. These are the basic things we need to survive, yet all of them cost money. If you can't pay for them, nobody cares. In some countries, these things are cheap, which makes sense, but in other countries, basic resources are as valuable as gold. So, we can conclude that all the talk about human rights is basically a fabrication because if you have to pay for your rights, then they are not rights at all.

Don't misunderstand me; I'm not criticizing capitalism. I believe in economic freedom and think it should be preserved, but what freedom is there if you're constantly fighting to survive? It's not like there aren't enough resources for everyone; there are more than enough. But at the same time, the people who produce food, like farmers, for example, can't give it away for free. They also have bills and taxes to pay and must make a profit at the end of the day. What I suggest is that the government take action whenever necessary to make the most essential products more affordable for people.

That's obviously easier said than done because many poor countries have corrupt governments filled with greedy politicians who would never do anything to help the people. In these cases, the only possible solution would be foreign intervention from other countries or international organizations. But it shouldn't just be donations or humanitarian aid; this is the same as treating the symptoms and not the disease. They must overthrow the government and enact political reform. But nobody wants to do that because it would go against "diplomacy."

Even if you live in a rich country and have plenty of resources, we must think about the people out there who don't. While survival is still a privilege in some parts of the planet, we can't ever be proud that the world is at peace. After all, what good is peace if people are living in despair? It would be far better to fight for the future of humanity than to live at peace with poverty and corruption.
